Pros: It is an amazing experience to race with over 28,000 people. The shirts provided as your swag are a bright color, fit well and feel great when you wear it. They have plenty of water stations and have a bathroom station at about the 1/2 way mark.
Cons: The cost of this race is ridiculously expensive based on the problems you experience and the swag you receive. I received a racing shirt and a coupon for a free chicken sandwich at Chick-Fil-A and paid about $50 for my entry ($42 + fee). Instructions and directions for packet pickup are sadly lacking. You are told to go to a particular side of the stadium and look for the white tents. Once you find the tents, parking is a joke because you end up using a students assigned parking space and hope that you aren't ticketed by parking lot security while you grab your packet. Directions on where to go inside packet pickup are ridiculous, there are none. It's pretty much up to you to figure out where your suppose to go first (you go one place to pickup your bib and then another to pickup your shirt). The day of the race it is in your best interest to have someone drop you off and pick you up, use the light rail, or find some other form of transportation other than driving to the race. There is very little parking available and a lot of traffic. The walkers are the biggest problem of all. They lie about their expected finishing time when the register so they end up in corrals that are meant for runners and joggers only. So don't go into this race expecting to achieve a PR. Once your corral is released to start you spend the rest of the race trying to get around the walkers. In some areas you are forced to walk because the walkers won't move and cause bottle necks in certain sections of the course. Once you finish the race you are suppose to receive a bottle of water and some sort of snack but I never received mine because race organizers had them hidden somewhere at the back of the stadium which was at the opposite end where you exited.
Conclusion: I will not participate in this race again. It's just not worth the aggravation and the cost. If this is a cause you truly believe in you are better off just making a donation.
