I participated in the Great Ocean Road Half Marathon in 2016. The Half Marathon for this event is 23km as this is the distance from Kennett River to Apollo Bay. The Marathon event is 44km, so be prepared to run an extra couple kilometres! Also the event has a bit of elevation due to the undulating nature of the great ocean road, the view is more than worth the hills!

Pros:
*The Scenery! I'd argue this event has the best scenery out of any event in Australia. I loved running around each bend and seeing a panoramic ocean view!

*The Buses - The buses provided to get you to your respective start lines are an absolute godsend, they are extremely well organised and take the stress out of parking.

*T-Shirts/SWAG - Both the T-shirt and Medal provided for the event are amazing quality. The t-shirt is Mizuno branded and is of a high quality.

*Expo - I enjoyed the expo setup for this event, it felt like a sunday market set up just for runners. It product range was a bit limited, but it was nice all the same.

*Race Management - This event is well organised and it shows. The weekend is full of various running events, and it's great that there are options for the whole family.

Cons:
*Aid Stations - The aid stations themselves are well stocked and the volunteers are brilliant, however there seemed to be a missing aid station in the Half Marathon. It did throw me out a little bit, so just something to keep in mind in preparation.

*Race Photos- I hate to be nit-picky but I was a little bit disappointed with my race photos. An event on the Great Ocean Road Marathon feels like a prime opportunity to get an awesome race photo with the amazing ocean view in the background. Unfortunately all my photos seemed to have been taken at the finish line so I didn't end up with the photo I was hoping for. Ah well there's always next year! :)

Overall the Great Ocean Road Half Marathon is an amazing event. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone!
