I have done CIM two times, in 2013 in which it literally had freezing temperatures, and 2016, which had perfect weather. Since I was born and raised in Sacramento, and my entire family still lives there, I am partial to races in that area. CIM is a VERY organized race with tons of porta potties, aid stations, and crowd support. Throughout the course there were many encouraging volunteers to uplift your spirits when the going gets tough. It is technically a net downhill course, but do not be fooled. the course is essentially rolling hills until you get to downtown. That being said, I thought it was a good experience and it is a wonderful sight at the end to see the Capitol. I would do this race again and recommend it to others.

I have ran the Two Cities half marathon for 7 consecutive years- 2010-2016. They have two course options for the half, the Fresno Course and the Clovis course. I by far recommend the Clovis course. It is relatively flat except going in some underpasses and is a little more scenic than the Fresno course. This race is a well run, organized race with a lot of cheers throughout the race from volunteers and the community. The course is spot on in length and clearly marked. There are more than enough porta potties at the start, and they have pacers for both the half and full marathons. This race has some of the best swag ever, including a long sleeve tech shirt, a hooded sweatshirt or half zip light jacket, a full hot breakfast at the end, and a brownie sundae. I have ran this race more often than any other half because it is enjoyable and comes together like a well oiled machine.

Mountains 2 Beach is a great race to get a PR, either in the half or the full. The net downhill course leaves you with a little juice to push at the end. The expo the night before was small, but decent. They had free samples of products and even old race tech shirts you could buy for $1. The morning of the race we had to get up early since it is a point to point course. However there was a great energy prior to the race and everyone was rearing to go. I felt full of energy at the start and really enjoyed the scenery and the runners surrounding me. Everyone seemed to be smiling and enjoying the run. Usually at the 10 mile point I start to feel tired, but not at this race. As you get closer to the ocean, the crowd support thickens and it is an encouragement to keep pushing to the end. The last part was along the path near the ocean and you finish with magnificent views! In fact I was so energized that I walked a few miles back afterwards and paced my friend running her first marathon 5 miles in. It was a fantastic race and one I would do again.
