First let me say there is no expo for this race so they got one star in that category (not saying I don't like that, there should really be an NA option). If you enjoy the commercialized side of running this race isn't for you. Can't beat the $15 entry fee and sense of community in this race, but do not sign up for this if you are not an experienced runner. The race takes off immediately up switch backs followed by steep hills and then back down again, and guess what! You get to do it all over again! The only aid station is located at the start/finish line meaning you will get to visit it only once. This race can get hot so it's very important to bring water despite the short distance. Parking is convenient, it's a small race so you will find parking pretty much right at the starting line, can't beat that! At the end you will be rewarded with kukui, no T-shirt, this race isn't about that.

If you are new to running and find 8 miles in your wheel house this may be a good race for you. It is a very large, lively event with lots of walkers so try to get near the front of the start if you want to run. Obviously this race isn't designed for any serious running competition so probably steer clear if that's what you're into. I just took an Uber to the starting line, there is the Ala Muana beach park parking lot nearby but no way will it fit all the participants. Shirts were white cotton, half of which contained the sponsors information. Not a very scenic run. You run through the streets of China town and then under the H-1 airport viaduct for a few miles before the home stretch to Ahola stadium.
