Would I recommend this race? H-E-double hockey sticks. In fact, I have recommended this race. I have run this one in the past a few times, but this year (despite the uncontrollable weather) may have been the best of the few. The course was spot on! The camaraderie from friends and new people is amazing! It is so much more than a race. It is a good time for spectators and runners. Let's give a shout out to the volunteers though. They still showed up to cheer and ensure we were safe while out on the course and into the finish line. There were so many wonderful sponsors, even a few that I had heard little about before. I found a new love for boxed water too. The swag is undeniably awesome! Everytime I pull out the shirts for the training runs, I smile because this race was well put together and awesome! I have friends who are going to run in Gazelle Girl in 2020, so I guess I will return again.

There are hills, but you can expect that as a runner in a race. The hills are what really make me return to this race every year.I think there were 2 years since I first ran this race that I missed. I have plans to not do that moving forward. Love, LOVE the time they put into creating the shirts and medals. The course is BEAUTIFUL! You only not have the chance to run the streets, but they take you through a local park. When the weather is nice, you are able to see the beauty of Medina. I would recommend this race to those out of town too. Small, but mighty.

I have done this race only once. I usually travel to another state to run a 10 miler each year. I decided to give this race a try and was not disappointed. The hill at the end is a big cuss word, but you forget about it once you climb and cross that finish line. I mean a run by the beach and lakes??? Yes, please. The volunteers and spectators are in abundance. The manner in which we grab the number and shirts could be better, but it doesn't take anything away from a great 10 miles.

I chose to run this race as my first Full Marathon because my Dad had run it twice and enjoyed it! I remember seeing the smile on his face when he crossed that finish line the first time. I wanted to experience that. A run through Canada tunnels and across the bridge sets this apart from any other race hands down. I did the International Half as well. It is full of awesome runners, spectators, and volunteers. Although I live in Ohio now, this is home for me. I was so pleased with the entire race and communication leading up to the race, I ran it again the very next year. If a friend asked about running their first full or even half marathon, I would HIGHLY recommend Detroit.
