Where to begin....
Packet pickup was just that. Nothing extra no vendors nothing. It was at Lloyd Hall and the pickup seemed to be well organized as we did not have to wait at all. Just a let down that there was nothing else going on there. Oh the restrooms at this place are atrocious just fyi. And the volunteer in my bib line was not pleasant. Look if you don't wanna be there and volunteer then don't.
Now race day had a different vibe though. It was fun! Race started on time but in waves obviously so we were a little nervous about finishing the 5k to get back in line for the 10 miler. We made it though. Whew!
Lots of great volunteers race day though. Very supportive and motivating. Apollo Creed at mile 1.7 was fantastic! The music along the way was awesome! The colorful scenery in the park was beautiful and helped when we struggled. The monuments were fascinating as well. The finish line guy was great! Gave us a shout out as we made our way to crossing the line. I always love that!
We didn't get to run the steps as part of the race but we did afterwards so that was fun. Too long of a line to get a photo with the Rocky statue though.
With as many participants as there were I was pleasantly surprised to not have to wait in long lines at packet pickup and to get the challenger medal after the race. It was pretty well organized.
Take note...Drivers in Philly honk... alot. The traffic is crazy. Do yourself a favor and just Uber around but expect it to take awhile.
Touristy stuff Geno's or Pat's for cheesetseaks? We did Jim's! In springfield! Excellent!
Overall I would recommend this race. The bling is well worth the little issues we had. It won't be one that we do every year mainly due to travel time but I am glad we did it. It was a great experience!

Bourbon & Bling ya'll!
This was my first time doing UBHM and I was not disappointed! I liked it alot!
This was an easy race and by easy I mean the logistics not the course! If I get a migraine just trying to register for a race, aquiring info for a race, or locating parking for a race it's a one and done for me! So not the case with UBHM! Very easy and smooth process! Racing should be fun afterall!
The course was beautiful and challenging as we made our way through downtown Louisville and Cherokee Park. So many great people lined our paths cheering us on and speaking motivation as we pushed through! A special thank you to all the Louisville Police Officers who not only provided for our safety but cheered us on as well!
At the finish line we received a personal shout out from the announcer and handed one of the most awesome finisher medals I have seen! UBHM provided a variety of refreshments at the finish line as well! Always love me some chocolate milk and bagels after a half marathon! Gotta refuel right?
The after party at Fourth Street Live was lit! Yes I said lit! The band was outstanding! Everyone was having a great time! We did have a little trouble figuring out where to cash in on all our food swag but nothing major! We found the bourbon easy and that was most important!
I would definitely recommend this race and the experience!

That's how I made my way to the finish line! But that's ok cause this was my first marathon!
I have an affinity for Carmel as it was my first half marathon so I thought it only fitting to run my first full marathon.
I love this race. I love the people of Carmel! This is a big deal and they support you each and every mile with their signs and sidewalk chalk messages and snacks and music!
The whole Carmel race experience is first class! It truly is! We had a few in our group that were slow to finish but they waited for us and brought us in across the finish line like everyone else.
The course is mainly flat but still challenging. I mean your going 26.2 miles so nothing easy about it, right?
Parking is plenty but so are the roundabouts lol! It's all good though. I would recommend this race to anyone no matter the skill level because they have several distances to choose from such 5k, 10k, half, and full! Pick your poison folks!

This was my first half marathon and the spring board for my decision to do a full marathon at Carmel the following year.
I love the people of Carmel. They are very supportive and the motivation they provide is very welcome out there on the course.
The race is well organized and one of my favorites.
