Stunning scenery and a fantastic race! Although the course is flat, much of the race is run on a dirt/slightly rocky path, so you need to watch your footing. Aid stations were well-spaced. Only complaint is that there were port-o-potties at only ONE location on the out-and-back course, at 5.8km/13.5km. Otherwise, an amazing and well-organized race, especially considering the fact that this was the inaugural race! The medal is nice, and the race shirt is high-quality--will definitely wear it in the future.

If you have the opportunity (and inclination) to run the Tokyo Marathon, you must! I cannot recommend this race enough. The crowd support is other-worldly, the race is extremely well-organized, and it is energizing to run with thousands of runners through the streets of Tokyo. I recommend going to the expo as early as possible, to avoid lines.

The NYC Marathon was my first marathon, and it was an unforgettable experience! There are aid stations every mile, and the race is exceptionally well-organized. The course is hilly (there are a lot of bridges), so adding hills to your training is a must. The crowd support is absolutely incredible, and it's pretty constant throughout the race (except on bridges). The expo is INSANE and huge, but it's possible to dash in, grab your bib and (very nice) shirt and leave. If you have the chance, don't miss out on this amazing race!
