The NYC Marathon! This is a must-do I think for every runner that wants to complete at least one 26.2 mile race! Being from NYC, I didn’t know if I’d feel the same way about running through the five boroughs as out-of-towners seeing the city for the first time but as exhausting as it was (I’m used to half marathons, ha, this is a bit further than my normal) it was a lot of fun.

I think the first 13 or so miles I spent high-fiving any spectator who put their hand out, ha. Around mile 20 my legs were near dead but the amount of people who come out for this race is amazing... random people enthusiastically cheering you on as you head toward Central Park is one of the most motivating things you’ll ever experience as a runner.

I think I loved everything about this race, except how it killed my legs by the end, ha. The expo was enjoyable, the start area is huge (and even has therapy dogs you can pet, which being a dog lover, nothing takes my mind off of things like a cute pup, ha), lots of aid stations on the course, incredible scenery and lots of people cheering you on... if you’re lucky enough to get into this race somehow it’s definitely a must!
