I ran the 2019 RnR Las Vegas Marathon. The marathon itself was horribly organized- started an hour late, and 10 miles were simply loops past a strip club and around a dark parking lot. The expo was neither crowded nor easy to get to.

The worst part though is that after finishing the race, verifying the splits and result online, and getting the multi-race finisher "heavy medal" in the mail weeks later... my finish has now disappeared from the website without explanation! RnR refuses to respond to email or phone calls and has deleted social media posts.

The Half marathon includes the entirety of the Strip and a 4 hour time limit. The Full marathon is a 5 hour trek through the backs of strip clubs, torn up roads awaiting asphalt, and industrial laydown areas. Support drops off to almost nothing after the half/full split and spectators are non-existent.

The final "screw you" from race organizers comes at mile 24.5 when you are diverted off the homecoming stretch of the Strip onto an unlit frontage road for the second significant hill of the race before being rushed into a 2000' long exit chute. Because it wouldn't be a complete waste of time if you simply got to experience a normal race finish.

Save your sanity- run the Half and save the marathons and Ultras for other cities.

A typical large marathon. The bands are the draw, but running across SD is the real fun! Plenty of support and staffed aid stations on the first half. The second half of the run after the marathon/half marathon split gets very quiet (typical).

One caution is the area around the halfway point at Presidio Park- there is a nasty curved section that climbs and descends with a crossgrade slope. Very easy for tired runners to injure knees on.
