Another must go. The volunteers are so friendly. The most flamboyant race you will ever get to have. Wasn't really an expo but perfect packet pickup and they really sold me on extra pride gear! They had a beautiful medal. I love running at Montrose Harbor and this did not disappoint! Even the mayor and news was there! There was the nicest drag queen that helped me make it to the finish line but I unfortunately was so grumpy..sorry.. but I really believe this course was longer than 13.1 miles and my watch agreed! But they did feel bad that so many of us were getting a bit dehydrated and let me have the rest of a gallon!

I love it being at Montrose Harbor and it's one of the rare occasions you will find a 5 mile race other than the Shamrock Shuffle. It's festive with a huge inflatable pinata at the start/finish and really fun volunteers and atmosphere..but the breakfast burritos honestly tasted more bland than McDonald's and with the description of Mexican food, it's very disappointing. It's an inexpensive race, so I guess you get what you pay for. And there's so many Cinco de Mayo celebrations around the area, so you can use that saved money to go there after.

The management is unbelievably friendly. There's gear check pretty much right after you enter. But going to Soldiers Field and running through the field is one of the most breathtaking experiences you will have. The medals are always beautiful ( doing this since 2017) and a veteran actually places this on you after you cross the finish line. And one of the few photographees that actually manage to take good pictures of me ( every runner knows the I shit myself look). There's not a lot of aide stations but there's a goodie bag at the end. It's usually boiling outside and they set up fountains, give out ice and gu..not a lot but perfect for 10 miles! I would say this is definitely a do not miss every year.. just a beautiful service for the service men and women.

Has a nice brunch after a really organized race. I went for 3 years in a row and never had an issue. If you have space in your house, they have cute potted plants to take home too..and do this and the Chicago half to get a huge medal! Easily accessible by train..hard to miss! Very nice volunteers and plenty of aide stations.
