I was honestly disappointed at first with this race. You hear so much about the expo and how you don't want to miss it so when I arrived in Kansas City I was super stoked all just to find out there was NO EXPO (-_-). Packet pick up ended up being in a very nice running store called The Running Well and the staff were very kind.
At this point I was feeling a bit bummed about what race day would be like but that went away once the day came!
The course was perfect! Just enough hills to make it challenging without being draining. Two bathrooms every half mile it seemed. It was a 5k course that we ran 3 times with only one water station that provided nuun hydration which I love. I just wish there was more to look at than Arrowhead and Kaufman stadium's parking lot.
Would I do it again? Most definitely.
Only suggestion: improve on the "expo".

**I actually did the 50K but the only option is the 50 Miler. **
This is now my second time doing this race and I have enjoyed it tremendously!
There were plenty of hotels near the starting station which was very convenient. I did same day packet pickup which was quick and easy. They also had beverages and light snacks at the start line.
The course was very flat, perfect for first timers, with a short out and back before heading out on the trail. You run through two small towns while enjoying the country scenery in between before turning around and heading back.
There are both unmanned and manned stations throughout the course no more than 5 to 6 miles apart. The aid stations are wonderful. They have fantastic snacks, small meals and wonderful volunteer staff.
The buckles are of good quality and distance specific. Race shirts are so soft and comfortable that I wish all my shirts could be like that.
Post race food is delicious.
Recommendation: wear gaitors. The first time I did this race the gravel was constantly getting in my shoes. The gaitors definitely helped the second time around!
