Having done the 5K in 2018, and not having done a 10K at all before, I knew that this was the race I wanted to make the leap at. I was dreading the hills from the 5K, but the course actually separated from the 5K course before the hills came (hospital hill to be specific). THe 10K course starts looking at the Western Auto building, next to Washington Square Park and heads down to 18th & Vine, then up Paseo to 27th St as you head down the long, gradual downhill past Liberty Memorial and to Union Station. 10/10 recommend.

The Plaza 10k is a fast & flat course that highlights some of the most beautiful areas of Kansas City. Starting & finishing on the Country Club Plaza, which is a site to see. For my coffee lovers, there is a Starbucks right behind the results booth. KC Running Co does a fantastic job with packet pickup with a 3 day window, at a few different location in the city. Volunteers are top notch and you really feel the KC spirit. If you haven't done the 10K distance before, this is a great one to start with.

From start to finish the KCM is one of those events that is well run, well staffed and eager to please. The Expo has everything you need for last minute needs and great deals. Lots of lines to process pickups super quickly. Helpful and knowledgeable staff & volunteers. The course is set in iconic downtown, and takes on infamous hills. You can do the course, but all fitness levels will feel the hills. Not a lot of them, just a couple of good ones. Highly recommend.
