This race has it all! Beautiful views, challenging course, great support, and a great after party!

I participated in the Double Pump Challenge (5K plus 10K) for 3 trips over the bridge. We drove in early so we could have some time to check out the city and get settled before race day.

The EXPO was on the smaller side but had everything you might need or want. Fleet Feet had a large booth with all your running necessities.

Race day TRANSPORTATION was easily accessible and very convenient to get to the start line on the other side of the bridge for the 5k and Double Pump challenge. When registering you have the option to reserve a time for the Trolley ride over which was super convenient. There were no lines and everything ran very smoothly.

I personally did not have to worry about PARKING because our hotel was right at the finish line and across the street from the trolley pick up, but I heard street/garage parking was readily available.

The actual RACE was FANTASTIC!!! There was a race announcer to keep the hype up before go time. There were several corrals and waves to start the race but the first quarter mile was still a bit crowded (no worse than any other race though).
The RACE COURSE was TOUGH! I knew going into the race it was going to be a challenge. These little legs were feeling all .7 +miles of that 5.5% grade incline x3. The views over the bridge were beautiful and the course was very well supported throughout with aid stations and people cheering on the runners.

The POST RACE PARTY was great with music, food trucks, beer. The VIP experience had a separate area with breakfast, bathrooms, and my favorite free post race massages. Well worth it in my opinion.

The MEDALS were very nice and I love how they all fit together. You did have to upgrade to receive all three medals for the Double Pump Challenge, but I'm all about the bling and considering the very reasonable race prices it's not something I would have thought twice about.

The race PHOTOS were free and they did a great job! Those bridge pictures are AMAZING!

OVERALL I had a great race experience. It was the most challenging race I have done to date, and I can't wait to do it again!

This was such a fun event with a great atmosphere, parrot heads know how to have some fun!

The race management was fantastic and very attentive. Despite being a smaller race there were plenty of volunteers to cheer you on along the route. Post race was great with snacks and drinks (free beer and mini margaritas) and some chill beach music to collapse to after running in the heat. The race is on Island time and didn't start until 9am so it was just a little bit hot!

Overall, from the music to the costumes, to the energy, it was a successful inaugural race experience and I am excited to return to run the course once the construction in the hotel is complete.

This was my first time doing this event and it definitely will not be the last!

The course was flat and took you through some of the nicest and most scenic parts of Downtown Norfolk with a good number of spectators and families out cheering. Despite having had some rain earlier in the morning the course was easy to manage with plenty of volunteers and officers out keeping the runners safe and on course.

The race expo was small but efficient and had multiple days and locations for packet pickup. The post race party made up for anything not available at the expo.
Race management kept everything fun and provided free photography for before during, and after the race. You should have seen all of the Superheroes out there!

Despite being a smaller race it was very well supported with runners of all types and experience. It was great to see so many families out there supporting such a great cause.

There really is nothing like the Clay Loop! The trail, the views, the people, the SWAG, the HILLS! This was a very organized race, especially considering the last minute change in date with the closing of the loop. So sad this gem is being shut down, but I would love the opportunity to do it again!
