This was my first(and only) marathon. I had to conquer the distance in my hometown and it was worth every mile! I would definitely recommend any locals or tourists run this course!
The hype on this course really keeps your momentum going. It’s such a big event in Knoxville. Your run through a few big neighborhoods where the residents really come out to support you!

The KTC Expo races are (one of) the longest running events in Knoxville. There are a ton of recognized groups like Most Expo's Run, Mother/Daughter, Father/Son, and of course Age Group awards.
Having run this race as one of the first events to return in 2020, I would say there was a fantastic execution! The race was not held in it's normal location due to City guidelines but that didn't stop KTC from hosting a great race. The course was an out and back for the 5k, and a 2nd out and back for the 10k. One self-serve water stop at the half way point for the 5k made for 2 water stops for the 10k. One highlight of the 2020 version was that the course ended on a downhill.
While I did participate in an unusual running of this event, I would definitely suggest runners participate in the Expo.

The CHKM is literally the biggest race in East TN. This event is managed so well from start to finish. Locals can participate in organized training runs every Saturday curated to your distance goal. The race itself takes you through several of Knoxville's infamous neighborhoods where residents are there to cheer you on in full-force.
The race newly ends in Knoxville's World's Fair Park where the post-race ceremony is a big party. Local breweries are on hand for complimentary post-race brews for runners. You can also find food trucks, physical therapists, and live music.
10/10 recommend this even to any runner!
