"A beautiful paved bike path route"

The best part about this out-and-back race is that it takes place almost 100% on a paved bike path that is in the woods meandering through the Franconia Notch State Park. There is just a half-mile portion at the start/finish on a road. It is mostly downhill in the first half and uphill in the second half but nothing too crazy. Also, the weather can vary greatly...can be snowing at the start/finish and sunny at the halfway turnaround. Another caution is that this is a smaller (maybe 200-300 runners) fairly no frills race.

One of the best things about this race is the crowd support in so many spots along the race. Plus, the scenery is fantastic, particularly when you are in the last few miles on the bike path along Lake Champlain. There is one challenging hill around Mike 15, but there is tons of crowd support there. This is a great one for a first marathon!

"This is an awesome downtown Boston course"

This is a rare race that runs through the streets of downtown Boston...starting and ending in the Seaport area. Warning though...it is a popular race and you'll have lots of company along the way. It gets a little too crowded in some spots. Watch out for potholes when you are in the crowds running!
