jon langley's thoughts:

We had sooo much hopes for this event but it was very uninspiring to say the least. The 2020 race was perfect weather and we expected this to be a nice, COVID controlled party but it turned into a "let's get this over with, pack up and leave" party.

We first arrived and placed our lawn chairs down in a parking slab outside the country club. A very subpar DJ was doing his best on a stage which was tolerable. My first major complaint of this race was the fact that there were no aid or water stations along the course. That's really unacceptable. They tried to blame everything on COVID but i just wasn't buying that. I also made the mistake of trusting a review left on this site that the beer was unlimited, it's not. They gave 2 out per person, checked it off your bib, then quickly disappeared. It wasn't long after that, the tents came down, and people started quickly leaving. To make matters worse, this so called "Sasquatch" caricature was nowhere to be found. Wow. Just Wow. I take that back. He actually played the Sax for the national anthem (no flag), then he disappeared back in the forest where he came from (maybe with the leftover beer). The course was nothing but hills and a good percentage was on golf course greens. Not very backwoods as you would expect. I signed up late with a group and payed about 45 bucks per person. Wasn't bad considering you get bagel, a cup of chili, 2 beers, long sleeve shirt and a unexpected medal for finishing. So i have to say, they have the right idea with this race, lots of potential but really poorly executed and that will likely make me look to another race next year or at least another beer & bagel in another state.
