I ran the Disney Wine and Dine half marathon this past weekend, held on 11/5/17 and LOVED this race!
EXPO: The expo was held at the Wide World of Sports, and was easy. I picked up my bib and long sleeve tech tee shirt with no problem. They had official runDisney merchandise in one area, while other vendor merchandise was in another building.
RACE: The race began in the early morning at 5:30 so the first few miles were in the dark. I stayed onsite at a Disney resort hotel, which provided free bus transportation to the start. The staging area was good, except that the lines for bathrooms were LONG. I was in Corral A and had to ask some kind runners to let me cut in line so I didn't miss my start. The weather was a little warm and humid this year, but nothing terrible. The race ran through three different parks: Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. Running through the parks is SO fun! Between the parks there are some boring highway miles, but Disney provides lots of entertainment with characters and music along the way. Water stops were plentiful and well stocked. The finish line celebration is fun with a great medal, a snack box (not great food unfortunately), a Dr. Cool cooling towel, fluids, and food/beverage to purchase. I was able to easily hop onto a bus back to my resort with very little wait. I ended up with a large number of quality race photos through Disney's Photo Pass service.
OVERALL: I always love Disney races, but this one is a new favorite. I loved the fun atmosphere! I was not able to attend the post-race party in Epcot, but that seems like a great benefit for Wine & Dine racers that I hope to attend in the future!
