I've heard and known about the Rehoboth Seashore Marathon for a couple of years now, and everyone told me it was a fantastic race, so when I had the chance to run it this year, I was absolutely thrilled!
I got to the expo in the afternoon the day before. The expo was set up in a tent outdoors. It wasn't the biggest setup, but it was still easy to find everything you needed. The bib pickup was smooth, the Brooks tech long sleeve shirts we received are amazing, and there was plenty of race swag available to purchase if interested. There was a backdrop outside of the tent for pictures too, which I liked! The parking along the roads was free both for packet pick-up and race day, and it was really easy to find a spot to park with so much open space. One race day, I got there about an hour before the race and was able to basically park in a spot that just about as close to the finish line as possible!
The race itself is a fairly flat and fast course, which is great for those looking to run a fast time, set a PR, or qualify for Boston! The relatively easy elevation profile makes this also a great race for anyone running their first marathon or looking for something that isn't hilly. We got to run on the boardwalk for mile 3, which was lots of fun. The crowds along the boardwalk were great, and the scenic views of the beach were wonderful. The race proceeds to a trail for a good portion, which really allowed us to take in the scenery around the Rehoboth Beach area. The out-and-back design for a good chunk of the race meant you would see lots of other runners throughout the race, which was exciting, and runners were all cheering each other on, which made for such a positive race environment. The aid stations were great, and the volunteers were also nice and fantastic. They were stocked with water and Gatorade, and one of the latter aid stations also had a variety of gels of different flavors.
The race atmosphere itself was fantastic. The community is great, and there were people lined up along the course at various locations throughout the race cheering you on. Lots of friends and family members of runners were cheering and holding up signs along the trails and roads, and there were many people in the neighborhoods who came out to support the runners, which was great for lifting spirits and getting you through the latter stages of the race! The race management is part of what makes this such a great race and a big reason for why people love coming back here year after year, and I couldn't agree more.
The photographers did a great job of capturing those race moments, and I got some amazing pictures! The race photos were available to download for free within 1-2 days after the race, which is not something that you often find at other big marathons or races, so that was a big plus as well.
Overall, this was a fantastic race, and I couldn't have asked for a better race to complete my second full marathon! I'll definitely be back and look forward to bringing some friends along with me next time. 10/10 would recommend!
