This weekend I completed my first #spartanrace, which was a Spartan Ultra with a few my favorite humans 💙💙💙

If you do not know what a Spartan Ultra is, it’s a 50k that has 60 obstacles in it.

I agreed to join my crew on this adventure about three weeks ago. My training consisted of my marathon training schedule and completing my 13-week at-home workout program. That’s it. For outdoorsy work, I did my first pull-up and jumped a fence about a week ago.

As you can probably guess, I had no idea what I’d gotten myself into. Honestly, it didn’t even matter because, in our run crew, friends don’t let a friend run alone. Our motto is, “We ride at dawn!”

I signed up, didn’t look at the obstacles or even view them on the website because I knew I’d panic.

In our run crew, we call ourselves “DTMC,” which stands for Dis Tew Much Crew, and think it’s obvious why.

They say to DO EPIC ISHH with EPIC PEOPLE! Not even sure the pictures capture how DOPE they really are.

Kathy, Luke, and I completed a 50k/60 obstacles, Chris completed a 21k/30 obstacles and helped a fellow Spartan that got injured on the course in the process.

The teamwork of cheering each other on, giving one another and other competitions a boost when needed, the excitement of pushing past your fear wildlife (rattlesnakes), climbing mountains, the moment when strangers become friends in the spirit of sportsmanship, the moment when while you are conquering your fears you are reminded that you can do the hard things. Being a Spartan Ultra Finisher, you truly are a certified BADASS!!!

You do not have to do it alone. Get you a crew that will do crazy, EPIC SHIT with you! Don’t be afraid, my friend, DO IT and thank me later.💪🏾💜
