I was looking for an early fall race not too far from New York City.
Pros:
The course is not far off-not even 10 miles-from I 78 in Pennsylvania.
The medal is simple, but solid. Shirt was nice, but nothing to write home about.
Cost was also very reasonable-I paid $90 roughly three months before the race.
There were plenty of porta-potties before the race, and the start was very easy to get to. I parked in a deck near the finish line, and it paid dividends after the race.
Cons:
The organizers modified the course this year, and it is a little hillier than advertised, especially early in the race. I'm someone who tries to visualize the course when running, and it definitely through me for a loop, but the overall flatness of the course makes up for it later on.
It is a trail race, so if crowd support is big for you, this isn't the race to do.
I would do the race again. It is not spectacular, but for price and location, it is a good deal. I used it as a training run for the Marine Corps Marathon in DC, and I wasn't the only one doing something similar.
