The Route 66 Marathon is a definitely a marathon sized party! Weather was cold, but that’s Oklahoma for you. Course takes you through different parts of Tulsa, but the hills are tough, especially on the second loop after all the half-marathoners split away.
Crowd support is ridiculously awesome! Neighborhoods definitely come out and represent. Porta-potties are abundant. The 20th Mile at TU is really helpful as they had athletic trainers ready to help with any issues- cramps. Even Tulsa PD were high-fiving is as we tricked through the course.
Of course, you gotta do the .3 detour! Earn your medal and a Jell-O shot- or 4. Then crush the remaining distance. Volunteers are awesome. Great race leading up to Thanksgiving!
