Registration for Rock ‘n’ Roll series races is easy through their Competitor brand site. If you a continuous participants of these races, your registration information will be saved which makes it easy to register for additional races. The pricing for Rock ‘n’ Roll races can get very steep so be sure to register early to get the best deal. Follow the race on social media for reminders about price increases or special promotions. Or if you plan on doing multiple races in their series, check out the Tour Pass – it lessens the cost per race.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll expo was awesome. They really know how to target runners and get your money! Rock ‘n’ Roll does a great job of immediately dumping you into their branded merchandise area.
I got the VIP package for race day, and I highly recommend it. The parking alone was worth it. The private gear bag check made bag check such a cinch. I had breakfast pre-race and then post-race food in the tent. The VIP area also had private restrooms with adequate hand washing station – a luxury at these types of events! Compared to Rock ‘n’ Roll races in other cities, I thought the corral management was just fine. I didn’t have to wait too long to start and the course wasn’t as crowded as some of the other races I have done.
The course took us past the Alamo, Brackenridge Park, the San Antonio Zoo, and the Alamo Stadium within the first 6 miles. We wrapped through an industrial part of town and ended outside of the Alamodome. The course was challenging between miles 5 and 6.5 with various steep hills, but outside of that was fairly flat or had minimal inclines. The race this year was on November 17th and it happened to be 90 degrees by 9am so I ended up doing a lot more walking than I had ever intended to do.
While the post-race area was outside of the Alamodome, I wouldn’t have known. The area was set off to the side it just seemed like any old other parking lot in any old city. If you are hoping to really get a feel of the Alamodome, then this race isn’t your solution.
Overall, I didn’t feel that San Antonio stood out among the Rock ‘n’ Roll races that I’ve done in other cities. The weather is very unpredictable and you could end up with a very hot race. I hope because they have now moved this race to December that the 90 degree days are gone.

Easily one of my favorite RnR races. St Louis, if you have never been, is a really great little city. Downtown is very walkable, there's great food, and the people are friendly. The World Series was going on at Busch Stadium so there was an extra buzz in the city.
I like that I could walk to the start/finish from my hotel. The course is not flat by any means, but it's not horribly hilly either. There were definitely a lot of college kids out making noise and with all the baseball fans in town, it seemed like the support was there.
The rest of the course is pretty great. You get to go through some neighborhoods with really pretty houses, and the finish is (hilly) right in downtown St Louis. The medal and the shirt were nice, and the finish area is very large and easy to get around.
Overall, I can say this was a pretty cool race experience.

This was the first half marathon I ever did. It set a very high bar that no race has ever lived up to.
The expo was top notch. It was a bit crowded, but very well organized.
Parking/Access: We stayed on Disney property and I would suggest this to anyone participating in the race (or races if you are in it to win it for the weekend). It is much easier to get around on Disney property, and even better, you get direct transportation to the race start the morning of the race. This is clutch because of the early start time for the race. Disney had it all down!
I LOVED the Disney course because you get to experience the parks. The starting line experience was thrilling with fireworks and lots of production value - really gets you hyped up. It is important to note that there is some highway running that isn't as scenic, but running through the parks made up for it! There were lots of character stops, but they ran very smoothly - and you don't have to stop if you don't want to. Each park was a cool experience, especially if you like Disney. There were only a couple of hills on over and under passes, but elevation was mostly flat. I really loved the course. For me, the best part was turning on to Main Street USA and seeing all of the lights. That was a pretty magical moment for me.
Finish Line: The finish line near Epcot was pretty cool.
Disney just has everything for an event like this perfected and they know how to do logistics and create an experience. I would recommend this for every runner as a race to add to your bucket list!
