From registering, to packet pickup and all the way to the finish line it was exciting. They kept you informed via emails and had mini clinics. I was lucky enough to get a training t shirt and glass. Packet pickup was festive and well organized. At the race start everyone was so excited to actually be running in person. The course was laid out perfectly and so was the weather. Being born and raised here it was amazing to see Louisville through different eyes.
The after party was a real treat and made you forget that you just ran a half marathon. It was a great crowd, music, food and of course Bourbon.

I ran this race for the first time with my Sole sisters. The course was well laid out and very scenic. I enjoyed seeing the waterfront from New Albany and Louisville. Running over the big 4 walking bridge is a beast. However I was thankful to have my sisters meet me at the bridge and run with me for the last 2 miles. This is a race I will make an annual tradition for sure.

Virtual Support
I was given the information for the race that was created by 100 Black men in Austin, TX. Felt I should run the race in support of them as well as my local community. Since the race was virtual I asked others to run with me at a local park. It became a day of bonding that I will always treasure. The medal is beautiful and a welcome addition to my collection.

Decided to run this race with friends since it was going to be my first ever 15K. The sign up was easy and also the packet pickup was drive in which helped with social distancing. The race packet gave detailed information on where to park and race officials answered any questions via email quickly. On race day it was a beautiful brisk day and the officials gave us staggered start times. Being that I had never run this course or seen this part of New Albany it was beautiful. All participants were required to wear a mask. I ran the entire race as a unicorn! The only negative was no restroom at the halfway point. As I approached mile 7 I met a wonderful older gentleman who helped me keep pace and a smile on my face. It warmed my heart that my friends stayed to watch me cross the finish line. The snacks given after the race were a pleasant trip and I was so proud to say I ran my first 15K.

This has been an annual tradition for me and this year I ran it with my best friend. The race route was beautiful and I appreciated all the aid stations. The course was well laid out and marked. The swag pullover is something I wear also. It was a brisk morning but looking out at the river and all the happy racers were motivation to finish strong.
