This was my second year running this 5K. It takes places in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park and is a very family-oriented race and the local Girls on the Run chapters run this race for the end of their fall/winter season. There are a few small hills on the course but they are not challenging at all. Most of the course takes you through local neighborhoods and the course is predominantly lined with trees offering plenty of shade. The biggest challenge of the course is that it takes place in downtown Orlando and most of the course is brick paved, so you have to pay attention to holes and gaps in the bricks.
There was good crowd support on the course as the local residents came out and support the runners along the course. Parking was a challenge unless you know where the good parking garages are located. If you can, it is best if you can carpool or arrive early to get into one of the closer lots to the start. Be advised that after the race, if you are not going to stay around the lake and take part of the many activities that take place at Lake Eola there are many road closures due to the Half Marathon.
