Gabriel Pagan's thoughts:

There are not many races where you can take a dip in a tropical ocean after you finish. Puerto Rico Tropikal Half Marathon is one of them. The route is around historic Old San Juan and Condado in Puerto Rico. The event was punctual and well organized. Plenty of aid stations and enthusiastic volunteers. Race starts at 5:30am before the sun and heat create a problem for most runners. There are some dark areas, but volunteers do a good job of lighting those areas. You will run over cobblestones for some stretches but its manageable. A lot of runners stop for selfies on the many scenic spots. After the race is over you can enjoy a good breakfast at one of the many restaurants in old San Juan or go swim at Escambron beach. If you are planning a vacation in Puerto Rico, consider this race.
