Always a fun time running the 5k before the marathon. The energy is in the air ... such a great way to celebrate before the big dance the next day. It's a fun time with family and friends coming together to celebrate the start of the wonderful weekend. It is a flat out and back course. The spectators are wonderful as is hydration provided on the course. Wonderful way to get a taste of what to expect the next day.

A race that raises funds for veterans hosted by veterans ... win win! I have been running the 3NM for years defending my title ... 1st in my AG. This year I decided to run the 10NM and it was truly a wonderful experience. Loved the long course, the spectators, running alongside so many friends, and I could go on and on. Hydrationg was well provided as were smiles and high-fives. Highly recommend this race.

The international 5k is held as a shakeout run for the Chicago marathon. It is amazing in that many family members and friends of marathoners will join in the fun though they will not be running the marathon. There is such a feeling of family and community on the course. Because people come from around the world to run the marathon, the 5k is just as diverse. You start and finish feeling a sense of accomplishment because of the great sense of unity on the course. Spectators are amazing. Highly recommend this race for all levels as it is not a competition for the most part. It is about coming together as one big sole-family.

My first marathon at age 58 in memory of my husband was the Chicago Marathon in 2017. I swore then that as long as I am able, I will run the Chicago Marathon every year with Team Imerman Angels. It is a flat course and though Chicago weather can surprise you at times, I have ran in wet, cold, hot, and in between temps. Despite the weather, the spectators are unbelievable amazing. You run through so many of Chicago's different neighborhoods and the communities welcome you with loud music, snacks, signs to keep you entertained, and I could go on and on. From start to finish, the marathon is so organized and the numerous volunteers are everywhere to answer your questions. The swag is always outstanding, especially the medal which always has something depicting Chicago. I think many first time marathoners began as volunteers. The energy on the course is amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone considering running a marathon, apply to run Chicago. You will not be disappointed. The start and finish location is close to so many hotels that for the most part you can walk from your hotel to the race.

Little did I know that just 3 hours away organizers were executing one of the greatest half marathons I have ran. From start to finish the race is organized, the volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable, the goodie bag is great, and they take care of their runners. Their website is full of valuable information and they provide warming centers via the Indianapolis Convention Center to keep you warm till race start. Loved the course, which was flat, and the spectators were wonderful. This was my first monumental run, and I will surely be back.
