The New York City marathon in a once in a lifetime moment. The crowds are great, finishing inside Central Park. The only caution is to train for the bridges. Marathon week has a wide variety of activities ranging from the parade of nations, 5K the day before, and the marathon. Everything is great

Really Enjoyed this race. I was looking for a race in Iowa and a place to hopefully go for a PR. This race was sandwiched between Chicago and New York City Marathon. The first half of the marathon is rolling hills and takes you onto the Drake University track, where you do a lap around the track. You also get to watch yourself on the jumbo screen. The second half is pretty flat.

If you ever have a chance to run the Chicago Marathon or Chicago Marathon 5k, I would do so. Chicago was my first marathon and even though the time doesn't reflect it, I had a great time. Course is flat, very few inclines. The only inclines are over the bridges. I stayed downtown mainly for the ease of getting around.

I had a great time at this race and the medal is super neat! An unbelievable amount of volunteers, police, and water stations. To run through town at night is a huge deal and they kept all of us safe. Hills make you stronger, so bring it on! The atmosphere (beer, food and entertainment) couldn't have been better. Thank you for a great memory!
